The Chaffle

I have been seeing posts and pins for chaffles for months and it took me a while to catch on. At first I thought it was made of chicken (thus the “ch”) and that didn’t sound good to me at all. After realizing the “ch” represented cheese – well, that was intriguing. Having never owned a waffle iron, and not wanting to buy yet another unused kitchen appliance while living in a motorhome, I was still pretty reluctant.

It was probably the continued need for a bread substitute that finally led me to give it a try. I shopped on Amazon for a small waffle iron and found the Dash Mini Waffle Maker. Two days later it arrived at the campground office and apparently the staff found this tiny kitchen appliance a bit amusing. I admit – it was much smaller than I anticipated.

I decided to do an impromptu video product review of the waffle maker and the basic chaffle recipe. I honestly was shocked at how good these turned out (you may note my surprise in the video). The pizza chaffles are in the oven now and pictures soon to follow!
